I am reading Max Lucado’s “Six Hours One Friday”, (I love Max Lucado), and there was something he said that really caught my attention, Max calls it “The Eleventh Hour Gift”.
The one who received this Eleventh Hour Gift was one of the robbers on the cross next to Jesus. He made it into the fold of God in the knick of time. Max explains it as, “He is stumbling to safety just as the gate is closing”.
The robber realized the truth of the cross. He was there because of his own sin, Jesus was there for our sin, Jesus had no sin. He was there because of a life filled with bad choices, Jesus was there by God’s choice, it was God’s plan since the beginning of time to redeem us and save us for eternity. He could not save himself, Jesus could have. Jesus could have gotten off that cross had he wanted to. It wasn’t the nails that kept him there but His love for us.
Don’t wait for the Eleventh Hour….you never know when it will be here, but it will come. Choose life, eternal life…..choose Jesus. His arms are open wide to receive you.
