Ringing in the New Year usually means we reflect on the joys of the previous year and consider how we can redo or better yet, let go of the mistakes.

Two things come to mind when I contemplate 2014.  One of those being, all that I was blessed with last year.  There were many birthday celebrations, holiday parties, and milestones which my family and I celebrated together.                                                    Resolution #1:  I want to go through the days of 2014 making sure my family members know how much I love and appreciate them.

Joy, euchristeo, the action of feeling blessed, that’s what I want to experience daily.   Last year I read , “One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are”, by Ann Voskamp.  It was an encouraging read which I highly recommend.  The nuggets that I carried away from her book are truly treasures.  Personally one of the ways I like to worship God is through nature.  He paints the most beautiful sky, and I enjoy praising Him for the beauty He has blessed us with.  Giving thanks to the Lord for what He has given……is us responding to our blessings.                                           Resolution #2:   To live fully right where I am.

The second thing that comes to mind when thinking about this coming year is letting go of past “mistakes”.  One of my favorite verses is found in Isaiah 43:18 and 19. “v. 18 forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. v.19 See, I am doing a new thing.  Now it springs up, do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”    Each day we are given to live out is a chance at a new beginning.  The Lord’s mercies are new every morning…….this is great news!  We can move forward with Christ as our constant companion.  If we are willing He will guide and direct our path while strengthening us and preparing us for the days ahead.   Not only is He guiding us, He is protecting us, all the while blessing us as well!                     Resolution #3:   to be diligent in seeking time with the Lord.  Reading the Word and prayer time need to be a priority.  I must gather that fresh manna every morning.  This will set the tone for my day.

These are the three resolutions I have chosen for the coming year, loving my family, thankfulness for what I’ve been given, and keeping my eyes focused on the Lord!  2014 will be a great year!
